About
If you’re like me, you’ve invested a lot of money into your old vinyl records over the years. I’ve got cartons upon cartons of them mostly from the 1960′s through the 1980′s of some for the greatest artists and tunes ever created. And let’s be frank, it’s not just about the money. The album jackets themselves are bonafide works-of-art that could never be replaced. You can’t get the kind of detail on a CD case. You need a full sized jacket in order to fully appreciate the album art of the vinyl era.
I have no intention of parting with my albums, so what is this all about? It’s about preserving the music in as near perfect form as possible. 44.1K or 48.0K samples per second on a modern CD.
Check out this video to see what I mean.
Sure you can re-purchase a lot of your old album in CD form or download them from the Internet, but what about those albums that the record companies deemed ‘unworthy’ of being translated into digital format? Will that great music be gone forever? Not if I can help it!
Let’s face it, vinyl is a great medium for music, but the fact is that it doesn’t last forever. Those old records are eventually going to disintegrate unless you take extreme measures, and so will the great music that was on them if we don’t take action now.
I’ve been in the process of converting and fine tuning my collection for 3-years now and I’ve learned a lot along the way that I want to share with you. If you find any of this information useful, then please send me some samples of your music as a ‘thank you’ to:
